Beautiful DE LIZZA & ELSTER aka JULIANA flower brooch of concave oval cabochons with a hematite-like finish, surrounded by thin navettes of the same finish, small black cabs and lots of grey rhinestones. There is a small flower "roundelle" that is riveted to the stem.

Click on picture to view larger picture. This is one of the most unusual JULIANA style sets I have ever seen. If I did not have the matching bracelet and necklace, I might not believe it is what we have come to know as De Lizza & Elster, aka Juliana. It has pink japanning as shown by the reverse of one earring in the picture. All pieces are set with bright and glittering pink, fuchsia and hot pink rhinestones and blue AB rhinestones for just a little accent. The brooch is 2" in diameter and the drop earrings are 2" long x 5/8" wide.

This is the best example of a manufacturing attribute for D&E jewelry that I have named "figure 8 puddling" or "puddling", which are one and the same. I have never seen this attribute on any jewelry except by DeLizza & Elster and I present it here as another identifier for D&E's unmarked jewelry. This brooch is almost entirely outlined by "figure 8 puddling". DeLizza and Elster purchased the smaller chaton cups soldered in two-part and three-part sections. Once they were added to the piece and the whole piece was plated, rather than the plating receding as it does with the larger cup sizes, it has the look of pooling or "puddling" flat to create little joined figure 8s. D&E used them because it saved them time and money as they did not have to do the work themselves. Please also note the brooch has the very recognizable clip-style bail used by D&E.
